A High BMI doesn’t always mean that you are Unhealthy

The U.S. Centres for Disease Control and Prevention asserts that obesity is an underlying medical condition, which is entitled to the person who has a BMI of 30 or higher but less than 40.

Assessing your BMI is a slick way to measure the fat of your body, and it does not mean that you are unhealthy if you have a higher BMI. CDC has formulated a calculator for both children and adults to find their numbers.

Having a BMI of over 30 can lead to severe health problems such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease, said Dr. Clifford Rosen, director of the Center for Clinical and Translational Research at the Maine Medical Center Research Center.

According to reports, there are rare cases where a healthy person constrains a higher BMI rather than an unhealthy person. Studies suggest that weight trainers and gym enthusiasts generally build-up a lot of muscle which results in a higher BMI in our system.

 “A lot of football players have a body mass index of 30, 35 even 40, but they are all muscle so they’re extremely healthy,” Apovian reiterated when asked about the higher percentage of BMI in athletes. She recommended that if you are unsure of whether your high BMI number is due to fat or muscle, it is advised to see a weight loss specialist to concur more specific tests about your metabolism.
